Great fun though, and our 20-month daughter loves it. Bright, colourful illustrations of various jungle animals and scenes, and cheery song on CD (not one of those high-pitched singers favoured by nursery rhyme albums). My children have enjoyed it at daycare so we purchased it for home, and were fortunate to also receive a cd with the song on it. My children love the colourful book, but it's hard to get them to spend long looking at the book - they just want to dance the animal boogie! He loved it so much that we have bought a copy for him, and four more for his friends and relatives. The book is a series of "down in the jungle" segments, with different animals, doing different actions, but all joining in the animal boogie: "boogie woogie oogie". Each animal is being watched by a different child. My son loves to join in with this, and has his own very special boogie woogie oogie dance! He loves the bright illustrations, too. It's a wonderful book to share with children of about two and a half upwards. A friend's six year old loves it just as much! As a parent, I like the fact that each animal is marked with it's proper name and where it comes from on the final page. The children are also a good mix, including children of different ethnic groups. There are plenty of opportunities for talking points.
