This is an excellent book. The illustrations are superb and the words teach children the scottish language. It is simple to understand and laid out very neatly. It is a superb book for children (and adults) of all ages, i am 15; and definately worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully illustrated 13 Feb 2013
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book is beautifully illustrated and well appreciated by both the children and parents of those I gifted them to.
The language is so familiar to me, as a child my parents spoke much of it, and it brings back lovely memories of those bygone days.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really good primary 1 text 21 April 2012
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
The primary ones really liked this book. It was more of a challenge than I thought it would be and led to some nice discussions with them. It also had me saying the word "bahookie" a lot more, which the children loved. It's a good buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Scots Language book 5 Mar 2011
By HB
Format:Paperback
This is a great introduction to Scots language for little people, Itchy Coo did it again!

Good insight into Scots language for adults too.

My husband and I are both English but our son was born in Scotland so reading Itch Coo books to him gives him a good introduction and insight into his local heritage and language. The rhyming storyline is fun and easy to understand and has beautiful illustrations giving extra meaning to the storylines.

I couldn't recommend this book enough - also other books by Itchy Coo.

1.0 out of 5 stars A confusing read for young children 13 Feb 2010
By Roddy
Format:Paperback
Firstly, I am Scottish and live in Edinburgh. Secondly, this book was bought for my son in nursery. Whilst the illustrator has done a great job in making the pictures stimulating, I have serious reservations about the writing aspect of the book, reading it confuses my son with his phonics and sounding out of words and I would not recommend this book.
