Amazon.co.uk Review

The irresistible pairing of Jack Nicholson and Adam Sandler is the best reason to see Anger Management, a comedy that might have been subtitled "The Funny and the Furious". Nicholson and especially Sandler have screen personas that partially rely on pent-up anxieties, so there's definite potential in teaming them as a mild-mannered designer of pet clothing for chubby cats (Sandler) who's been ordered to undergo anger management therapy with a zany counsellor (Nicholson) prone to occasional tantrums and devious manipulation. Surely this meandering comedy looked better on the page; director Peter Segal scores a few lucky scenes (particularly Sandler's encounter with a Buddhist monk, played by John C Reilly), but a flood of cameos (Heather Graham, Woody Harrelson, Rudolph Giuliani, and others) can't match the number of laughs that fall flat. As Sandler's understanding girlfriend, Marisa Tomei plays a pivotal role in a happy ending that leaves everyone smiling, with the possible exception of the audience. --Jeff Shannon

DVD Description

After a small misunderstanding aboard an aeroplane escalates out of control, timid businessman Dave Buznik (Adam Sandler) is ordered by the court to undergo anger management therapy at the hands of specialist Dr Buddy Rydell (Jack Nicholson). Dave reluctantly accepts the doctor’s counseling, but after another mishap Buddy steps up his aggressive and unorthodox treatments by moving in with Dave. As Buddy wreaks havoc with every aspect of his life, Dave must decide whether to crawl back into his shell or finally stand up for himself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jack Nicholson at his best!! Absolutley hilarious and worth every penny!!, 23 Jan 2007
How anybody could not like this film is beyond me! It's a very funny film, with a good ending and generally just enjoyable!
Adam Sandler plays a good part but no where near as good as Jack Nicholson. Nicholson's potrayal of the doctor who tries to cure Adam Sandler's character is fantastic! Nicholson's jokes are hilarious and his general manor and quotes are just brilliant! The best quote from Nicholson being : 'Can you please give me your name Mr. Head, and please don't tell me it's d**k' It's a must see for any Nicholson fan and a generally funny film, i thought it was worth every penny.

4.0 out of 5 stars A MATCH WHICH I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD SEE - ADAM SANDLER AND JACK NICHOLSON, 19 Aug 2007

(TOP 100 REVIEWER)
During the past few years, director Peter Segal showed the world he can work wonders with the popular comedian Adam Sandler. Sandler, usually a rather one dimensional actor that enjoys playing himself on screen (a thing he does quite well, if I might say so myself), blossomed in numerous sub-genres under the hands of Segal, showing he can be romantic as hell (50 First Dates), charismatic (The Longest Yard) and most important - irresistibly cranky (Anger Management).

In this comedy powerhouse, Sandler's popular tend to breakdown is boosted with the help of one Jack Nicholson, movie legend and an astonishingly funny actor on his own right. Nicholson's collaboration with Sandler proves he really should be doing more comedies, as their encounter creates many hilarious moments. The plot, in short, revolves around Dave Buznik (Sandelr), your average Joe that has a very short temperament that costs him his freedom. After breaking down on a plane, he's teamed up with Dr. Buddy Rydell (Nicholson), an anger management guru with some psychotic issues of his own. Rydell follows Buznik's every move, making his condition only worse and driving him to the edge. This results in some hysterically funny encounters with the law and with unsuspected civilians caught up in the mix. It also reaches a climax in one of my favorite comedic moments of recent years, when Rydell forces Buznik to sing The Westside Story's "I Feel Pretty" while blocking the traffic on a crowded bridge.

On a more personal note, I would like to add that I've seen Anger Management several days after an acquaintance of mine, himself a comedian, was killed in a suicide bombing in Tel Aviv, Israel. It was comforting to snap back to reality with an uplifting feature that puts many things in life in just the right proportions.
