4.0 out of 5 stars An Entertaining read! 4 Feb 2011
By RealTXHousewife - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
In Mary Stanton's fourth installment in the Beaufort & Company mysteries you get exactly what you expect and a lot of what you don't! We rejoin Bree and friends as a made for TV movie is being filmed in Savannah. Nothing new for the city, but new for Bree. She is pulled into the spotlight when veteran actress, Justine Coville, enlists her help with her will - and maybe one other thing. She's sure she's being sabotaged during filming. Someone wants her off the set. Enter stage left: a hired driver with drama of his own, a script writer with author aspirations and spectres looking for an heavenly appeal. Mary Stanton doesn't disappoint! There are twists, turns and enough action to keep you reading well past your bedtime. I know I lost a few hours of sleep and the laundry had to wait.

5.0 out of 5 stars exciting supernatural mystery 5 Feb 2011
By Harriet Klausner - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Brianna "Bree" Winston-Beaufort is a lawyer with two practices; one pays the bills enabling her to conduct her other unlisted work at 666 Angelic St; as the celestial advocate pleading for the souls of her clients otherwise condemned to Hell. She seeks evidence in the celestial records to mitigate or acquit the sentence on appeal.

In Savannah a film based on the life and murder of Haydee Quinn, a stripper who caught a rich man, but his mother disinherited him. Actress Justine Coville hires Bree to get the Bulloch sisters to grant permission her to wear their mother's brooch during the filming; one of the siblings agrees. Mr. Dent is working the client side of the film and he knows the writers believe the movie about the life and murder of Haydee will be a hit. Dent believes that too as he was there all those decades ago he was the detective on the case, but he a drunk too who ran a poor investigation. To make it back home, he had to do the 12 step program and find the real killer not the one who died in the electric chair. When Bree looks at the brooch, she sees the spirit of Consuela Bulloch who begs her to be her advocate at the Celestial Court hearing because she wants to get out of where she is.

The fourth Beaufort and Company legal thriller (see Angel's Advocate and Defending Angels) is an exciting supernatural mystery. The woo-woo elements are a Mary Stanton trademark that adds mysticism to the mix and enable readers to believe that Bree defends condemned spirits in the highest court. Brave Bree tries to do what she believes is the right thing regardless of which court she defends her mortal and otherworldly clients in. The support cast (still breathing, angelic or otherwise) enhances an entertaining mystery.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Excellent Installment! 22 April 2011
By Jimmie A. Lindsey - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Since the previous reviews were not only extremely well written but mirror my thoughts, I will not belabor giving you a synopsis of book #4 "Angel's Verdict". But wanted to add my kudos of praise for this very well written series!
Not being a reader of paranormal in general, I started this series a while back on the strength of the authorship of Mary Stanton, a pseudonym of Claudia Bishop. I spent numerous enjoyable years with Meg and her sister in Hemlock Falls, thanks to Ms Bishop. I have not been disappointed with her new offering! Clever premise, delightfully believable unbelievable characters, full of Southern charm, and very well crafted, avoiding all the tired situations of the cozy genre.
I highly recommend this installment of the Beaufort & Co Series, though beginning with #1 Defending Angels and continuing the series would give the most satisfaction for the reader. Prepare for some most enjoyable hours of escape!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great New Series 8 July 2011
By Thereya - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Verified Purchase
This new series is a lot of fun. I'd highly recommend reading them in order, since I think this book gives away some of the plot to the first book. The plot is modern, romantic and cleverly written. If pressed for a fault, our heroine borders on too perfect and there are a number of mysterious elements that are brought up in the series and very slowly being answered. But that's a complaint only because I'd like the answer sooner. It's cute mystery with a supernatural/Christian twist without being religious in nature. I feel that if I go into that any further I'll spoil the premise of the first book, but it is not at all a religious or anti-religious series. I would recommend it to anyone looking for an engaging light read.

4.0 out of 5 stars With Angels on Your Side 20 Jun 2011
By J. Watkins - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Each addition to Mary Stanton's series is better than the last. I love the idea of a celestial advocate working to right the wrongs of the dead, especially in the backdrop of Savannah. Brianna Winston-Beaufort, the young and stunning lawyer with a complex family history, has a crack team of angelic assistants on her side. I happily delved into this latest edition and am thrilled with outcome. My only concern is that I finished it far to quickly and hate to have to wait for the next installment.
