Finding Your Heritage and Love 17 Aug. 2012
By Priscilla C. Johnson (Cilla) - Published on
Format: Mass Market Paperback
Rochelle Alers returns to Cavanaugh Island with the story of Kara Newell in Angels Landing. Ready to start her vacation, Kara was heading south to see her parents in Little Rock, Arkansas. Having worked as a social worker in New York City for fifteen years, she was ready to relax and get some much needed rest. First, Kara had to make a stop in Charleston, South Carolina for a reading of a will. Being an only child, Kara could not imagine what this had to do with her but the attorney assured her it would be to her benefit to attend.

Jeffery Hamilton, a retired Marine, was the sheriff on Cavanaugh Island. After Kara arrived and the content of the will was disclosed, she needed immediate protection. Once he saw her, Jeffery was smitten and he found every reason he could to be with her. As their friendship grew, so did trouble and gossip. Kara and Jeffery were forced to stand together and face their fears as well as the dark secrets of Angels Landing.

Angels Landing was touching, romantic, and like the first novel in this series, full of colorful characters. Alers tell the history of Angels Landing that will have her readers scheduling trips to visit this lowcountry island for themselves. This is a series you will want to read again and again.

An advance copy was provided by the publisher for review purpose only.

More Lowcountry Love 5 Sept. 2012
By Kindle Customer - Published on

As I have stated in previous reviews I am a die hard Rochelle Alers fan. "Angels Landing" carried on the Lowcountry loving saga. I enjoyed the book overall. I liked the relationship between Kara and Jeff, but I don't feel the back story was developed as well as it could have been. I felt the abrupt turn around of Kara's family was a little forced. At any rate I am a happy ending person, despite danger, murder, suspense, or whatever, so I give the story 4 stars.

exhilarating contemporary 28 Aug. 2012
By Harriet Klausner - Published on
Format: Mass Market Paperback
New York City dedicated social worker Kara Newell travels to Charleston, South Carolina in response to an enigmatic request from David Sullivan, Taylor Patton's attorney. She explains to David that she does not know Mr. Patton, but the attorney says Mr. Patton knew her. In a conference room she finds a horde of people angrily staring at her as the lawyer states deceased Taylor left his estate to his biological daughter Kara on the condition that she restore the National Historical registry site Angels Landing on Cavanaugh Island. Confused Kara knows her father resides in Little Rock but David persuades her to spend a week at the estate instead of allowing avaricious relatives to sell to developers.

David calls his cousin Cavanagh Island Sheriff Jeff Hamilton, a retired twenty year marine to keep an eye on Kara as her new family is not happy with learning Taylor had a child. Jeff, who returned to the island to help his beloved Grandmomma Corinne, says he will keep the newcomer safe. However, he becomes more active when someone tries to frighten Kara to run back to New York or Arkansas.

The second Cavanaugh Island Low country romance (see Sanctuary Cove) is an exhilarating contemporary starring an intrepid heroine and the ex-marine cop who loves her. The storyline is somewhat predicable, but made incredibly fresh by insight into the local history of islander African-Americans. Readers will appreciate the return to Cavanagh Island.

Angels Landing ( A Cavanaugh Island Novel) 24 Sept. 2012

Ms. Alers novels are always very good and this one was right up there.
Angels Landing was a very good read. The characters all seem real even the unsavory ones. The romance was firecracker hot and the descriptions of the locale made it seem as though you wanted to visit. Can't wait for the next novel set in that location. Love the Amazon Kindle and the cost of the e-books are not bad either.
