Product Description

Is there anything more British than the 'greasy spoon', especially when it’s run by foreigners. Angelo’s is a café in the heart of London, a short stroll from Trafalgar Square and the meeting place for a whole motley crew of diverse, deftly drawn characters from the imagination of writer Sharon Horgan (Pulling). You couldn’t meet a bigger Anglophile than the man with his name above the door, Italian immigrant Angelo (Steve Brody). He always provides a warm welcome to his patrons just as long as they don’t spend all day sitting over one bloody coffee. He is ably assisted by his daughter Maria (Shelley Longworth), who dreams of being discovered by Simon Cowell and leaving this dump behind her.

Other regular fixtures include: Shelley (Miranda Hart), the man-hungry mini cab driver who is saving her virginity for Mr Right, even if he’s taken out a restraining order against her; Karen and Dave (Sharon Horgan and Paul Garner), husband and wife police officers who seem to spend more time discussing their marital problems than doing actual police work; Mickey P (Javone Prince), the on/off, mostly off, boyfriend of Maria; Alicia (Alice Lowe), Maria’s best friend who constantly tries to steal her man; struggling thespian Kris (Simon Farnaby), who dreams of being discovered while performing for tourists as a gold robot; Kevin (Paul Kaye), Dave’s sleazy brother who has a keen eye for the ladies, especially Karen; and Russell (Kim Wall), who spends all day holed up in Angelo’s praying that his wife doesn’t discover he has been made redundant.

Extras:
  • The Making of Angelo’s
  • Trafalgar Square – original short
  • Angelo’s Taster Tape
  • Audio Commentaries – by Sharon Horgan writer and creator), Damon Beesley (producer) and Chloe Thomas (director)

4.0 out of 5 stars Fairly good comedy 30 Mar 2012
By Mikey TOP 100 REVIEWER
Format:DVD
Angelo's is a comedy set around the owner and regular users of a cafe located near Trafalgar Square, Angelo's.

Not the best comedy in the world, and not the worst. Probably best described as just above mediocre.

Try it for yourself.
