With a 250 meters range, you can go further without losing touch. The monitor’s alarm sounds even if connectivity is broken. The colour LCD screen on the parent unit clearly displays a number of monitoring features, so even if the sound is off you’ll know what’s going on. The optional ‘tic’ sound feature reassures you that the monitor is working even when your baby is sleeping silently. In case of power failure, the monitor reverts to batteries automatically. The halo on the nursery unit acts as a soothing nightlight and allows you to check your baby with minimal disruption. With the Hold & Mute feature, if for example you need to feed or change your baby, the sound and movement alarm can be temporarily deactivated. We have used this product for over 1 year now, it's reliable, and give us confidence as it is one of the very few products that senses motion / breathing. With risk of sudden infant death syndrome, and especially when the baby is very young, this is invaluable, providing us with a piece of mind. It's also really useful to bring on holidays, if you have a standard cot where you will go (like grandparents' home), but doesn't work on many travel cots as the mattress is not usually detachable, allowing you to slip the sensor pad under the mattress. Overall, it's indispensible, we love it!

I wanted the added reassurance of the movement sensor as well as a sound monitor, and I'm delighted with this.
Initally the set up looks daunting. But there is a telephone helpline which was answered straight away when I got a bit stuck, and we were given very helpful advice. After that, everything was very easy. Since then, we've had to problems. It has been set up three times now in different locations with no issues.
The only things I wish it had are:
a talk back function
a less bright nightlight. For night-time feeds, it is really dazzling and I've had to stick some tape over part of the 'halo' light.
But I'm still thrilled with the product, gives extra piece of mind even when our baby was sleeping next to me in the moses basket. A quick check of the monitor would show that it is still working without having to reach over and touch her and risk waking her.

Angelcare AC300 Movement Only Baby Monitor
I have had two of the AC401 Deluxe units now and found exactly the same problem - if a mobile telephone comes into close contact with the parent unit, the parent unit can switch itself off. This potentially leaves parents in the position where they think their child is sleeping peacefully but could be unaware of a potential issue.
All of the parent units I have had exhibit the same fault, and the UK distributor admitted on 17/11/2011 thay they were aware that this could happen - YES, THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. This is both frightening for parents like me who already have one of these items, but disgraceful. The MD of the distrubutor's advice to me was simple - buy another monitor. I cannot believe this attitude towards the problem - whilst this device, nor any other baby monitor, replaces the necessity to frequently check on your child, it is there as an aid and people learn to trust it - at the very least they expect it to do its job and not just turn itself off.
I have raised the issue recently with AngelCare in Canada directly and am awaiting a response, but in the meantime I would suggest you view the attached short video and choose your baby monitor wisely.
