The stories running through issues #21-25 of Dark Horse Comics’ series ‘Angel and Faith’ are collected as Angel & Faith Volume 5: What You Want, Not What You Need (Angel & Faith (Numbered)). Once more we have an excellently scripted and illustrated collection, bringing this season of Angel and Faith to a close. This really is a superb comic book, though it needs to be read from the beginning of the series to pick up on all the nuances of character development. If you were a fan of the TV series, then you will find the comic books have captured the personalities (and likenesses) of the characters, and continued their stories in a wonderful manner.

The Story
Whistler, Pearl and Nash are out to bring the/an apocalypse in order to reduce the world’s population to a manageable level. They have stolen as many magic artefacts as they could and are now on a rooftop in East London distilling out the magic into a little ‘bomb’ which they will detonate. The goodies set out to stop them. There is much fighting, squabbling, heroic self sacrifice and the like. What else were you expecting?

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant series!!! 21 Sept. 2014
By Mug!
Format:Kindle Edition
As I am missing Angel the series and still resentful that Eliza turned down the offer of a Faith Spin-off, Angel and Faith was a PERFECT cure! Whilst still keeping the same vibe and feel of the Buffyverse, Angel and Faith's chemistry brings a brand+)::/ )65AAAAAAAAGH! right this f##king kindle keeps jumping words and typing what it wants! It just took me 5 minutes just to write the last f##ing sentence! It's a good book, read it, do whatever the f##k you want, I'm over it! PEACE!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for everyone, not just Buffyverse fans 26 July 2014

Loved this book. I like it more than the Buffy books, in fact. Great writing and art, fun characters (with real strengths and flaws), exciting situations. I was pleasantly surprised. I recommend this series to any fan of comic books; you don't need to love the Buffyverse to enjoy these books.

5.0 out of 5 stars It scratches that itch. 25 May 2014

If you're obsessed with everything Buffy and have loved these comic books, you will enjoy this one a lot. I like this series even more than Buffy. Angel and Faith are both endlessly compelling characters and I enjoyed every page.
4.0 out of 5 stars "Another fine chapter in a Joss Whedon saga 13 Jun. 2015
By Dee - Published on Amazon.com

"Another fine chapter in a Joss Whedon saga." Husband purchased this as a gift for himself to continue his collection of this series. He's an avid Whedon fan (Whedon connoisseur, perhaps?) and has read/watched/experiences nearly everything that Whedon has made. Husband didn't rave about it, but seemed to really enjoy it. May not want to purchase as a gift unless you're absolutely certain that the recipient is interested in this series, as there are several written by Whedon. Recommend

Great ending to the first volume of the series. Whitaker pearl and Nash were a terrific read. Sets up niche for volume 2.
