The 3rd album from the Angel Brothers has been a long time coming; the two chaps took over a year off from music and went travelling. Even when Internet rumours started circulating about the release of a new record the date going back with February becoming March and March becoming April. Anyhoo it is here and the wait has been worth it.
`Tongues of Fire' has ambled Eastwood style straight from a 70's spaghetti western, you can almost hear the bullets in the background. `Ghosts' echoes with a Spanish feel, a wonderfully strummed acoustic and eerie keening vocal in the foreground of the mix, after nearly 2 minutes this mutates into a more classic ambient world sound. Quiet beautiful.
The highlight is the mighty `DJango's Caravan' an early mix of which was included in the excellent taster CD from Navigator Records last summer. An epic 5 minutes that will have even the dullest accountant smiling like a drunken fool. `Shifting Sand' is classic 80's pop and the only track with a vocal.
If I have a complaint regarding this wonderful new album it is that there are only 9 tracks. Nine wonderful tracks, but 50 minutes pass awfully quick when listening to this cracker. Highly recommended.
