5.0 out of 5 stars More than just SPACE 1999! 7 July 2005
By A Customer
This witty and immensely readable autobiography of SPACE 1999 star Zienia Merton is obviously a must for all fans of the show, but even if TV sci-fi isn't your cup of tea DO buy this book! Zienia has worked in TV and films from the mid-1960's (did you know she fleetingly appeared in The Beatles' HELP?), guest-starred in pretty much every major TV series of the 1960s, 70s, 80s and 90s, made movies all over the world opposite the likes of Gregory Peck and Richard Widmark, and worked with some great and some rather nasty folks. All is told in a funny, fast-moving stream-of-consciousness style of writing, with many self-depricating comments and absolutely none of the usual actorish-luvvie-self congratulatory stuff. Naturally SPACE 1999 is well covered in several fascinating chapters, and there are many previously-unseen photographs. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Zienia - my first crush :) 11 May 2013

Sandra Benes was my first crush as a child, I recently purchased Space: 1999 (Blu-Ray => fantastic!) and I was intrigued to find out more about her.

A very interesting read, rather self deprecating, she is far more beautiful than she thinks! After watching "The Chairman" recently, reading about what went on behind the scenes made for laugh out loud moments.

A nice book to read for Space: 1999 fans, also a book to read for those who thought Zienia Merton was the most amazing lady in the whole world to a six year old boy :)

Well written and an interesting look at the life of an early science fiction icon. It was great to learn more about Zienia's life and career. Of particular interest to me were her behind the scenes musings about the cast and crew of Space 1999.
