Book Description

1 Nov 2012
This petit, whimsical collection of work from pop icon Andy Warhol pre-dates his more famous paintings and prints. These charming and relatively unknown experiments, in commercial illustration were created between 1950 and 1960. Fanciful, vibrant and bold, Warhol's early drawings of fashion, animals, food and cherubs display the signature bright colours, distinctiveness of line and repetition of unexpected images that would spark a Pop art revolution.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice for an Andy Warhol fan or not 21 Jun 2013
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
I got this for my friend who is a fan if AW, I like some pieces of his work. I enjoyed flicking through this book there were some nice drawings in there. It would make a good "coffee table" book for someone like me with a mild interest in art, my friend really liked it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Andy Warhol Drawings 5 Mar 2014
By Mooseville - Published on
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
Great compact, eye-feasting, book of Warhol's often overlooked ink and color dye drawings. There's great economy of line and wonderful playfulness in each page. Warhol had a knack for reducing things to essence and its a reminder that you don't need the most advanced arsenal of tools for personal expression. In fact, this work has much more human integrity than most digital art I've seen. It's all about poetry of expression and wry humor here.

What a FUN book, ...and in almost perfect condition; I love it. Warhol is all about
having FUN when making art -- and ..."making FUN of art" at the same time,

I bought this as a gift and my friend loves it. Book was a bit smaller than I had anticipated. Overall I would buy the book for another fan of Andy Warhol.
2.0 out of 5 stars Print quality is not good 15 Dec 2013

Its a good book if you want to know a liitle bit about AW's illustrations. I love the whimsy. But the print quality was not great and was too distracting for me to enjoy. If you don't mind that, then the book is good.
