I've been finding birds since 1995 and listing them with the excuse that it's citizen science. Over 600 blog posts mark a diversification into writing, especially of a full-length road trip through Australasia. Not content to do anything by halves, I'm working on my first three novels: one is actually complete, although still in progress; one is science fiction; one about growing up in the 1960s and 70s. Throw in birding booklets, the odd short story and movie and that's my oeuvre.
My education and day job, though, involve science and computers. This has taken me all over Britain, to Italy, Germany and various bits of the USA. So, I grew an appetite for travel, which is all the keener for discovering the natural world. Although I love the way it also plays out right at home, here in Bristol.
I also dabble in movies, modern art and a little Texas Holdem poker.
