Andrew Steane (1965-) is a Physics Professor at the University of Oxford, England. He is married to Emma who enables and challenges him to be better; his three children return his delighted witness and recharge his batteries; his many physics students over the years have given him valuable work to do; the members of the Christian churches which he has supported have in return supported him. He enjoys singing, walking, poetry, and teaching youngsters. He was awarded the Maxwell Medal of the Institute of Physics in 2000 and has done research in quantum computing and in relativity. He now writes in the areas of physics and that important and sometimes profoundly beautiful but easily distorted area, religion.
