Product Description

Review

"This is an extremely comprehensive, well-balanced and rich survey of Andrew Lloyd Webber's entire career." William A. Everett, co-editor, The Cambridge Companion to the Musical "It is a considerable tribute to the quintessentially British Andrew Lloyd Webber that he should feature so early in a Broadway Masters series: as a technical study of Lloyd Weber's work, John Snelson's masterly account is unbeatable." Sheridan Morley"

Classic FM Magazine

'a meaty comprehensive study'

Good academic treatment 3 Dec 2008
By Goole - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
John Snelson's book is a good academic treatment of Lloyd Webber's work, not a biography. Snelson looks at Lloyd Webber's work as a whole, comparing themes, Lloyd Webber's maturation as a composer, other elements of his work and posits Lloyd Webber as a Broadway Master. While it may lean a little too favorable to the composer, particularly with regards to his recycling of previous material, it is a good read and probably the most insightful look at his work that I have read.
