I bought this with the intention of being able to have a bash at making ice cream, not expecting to get it right, but READ ON.
I had 2 practice runs (the first one didn't work and I had to take the batch out and whisk it again but it was my own fault for not ensuring that all my ingredients were chilled in the fridge first). Second time round my brain was in gear, I had my specs on and no excuses. Superb! And this was only the practice run. I had quality ice cream galore before I'd even started!!
Although this came with a great recipe book, I had already ordered the Ben & Jerry book, but both were great.
Minuses - delicious ice cream at 30 minutes notice won't help the diet at all. Oh well.......... (but worth every spoonful)

I have never tried making ice cream before but thought I would give it a whirl :) This is a very simple machine and is all you really need.Even if you brought an expensive machine you would still have to do as much prep and the ice cream would be the same !
Slightly misleading are the claims that it takes an hour to make ice cream. Yes it does but it very soft and not what you and I would call ice cream. Its best if you make it the day before. Having said that homemade ice cream really is the muts knuts. The recipes are very simple and you will be making up your own flavours within minutes ! Give it a whirl it really is worth it.

I have owned an ice cream maker before this one. It had a smaller capacity (0.5l) but the ice cream was ready to eat. The ice cream made in the Andrew James machine requires a spell in the freezer to gain a perfect consistency and because of this I have deducted one star. However everything else about the machine is great it has a large capacity, works quickly (about 15 mins), is easy to clean and not at all fiddly. The recipe book is a bonus and I would recommend the lemon ice not a sorbet as the name suggests but a simple ice cream.

Great for the price
This is a great ice cream maker machine for its price. It is so easy to use. Just remember to put the bowl in the freezer several hours before you intend to make the ice cream.
