Previous to this purchase I had bought a JML halogen oven and found it extremely useful, hardly ever needing to use my conventional oven, but the JML broke (the halogen light in the top is very vulnerable to splashes, which renders the whole thing useless, and it is not repairable). I set out to replace it immediately, and opted for a Grand Remoska (exclusive to Lakeland) - as I had heard people giving them high praise, but boy was I disappointed. The Remoska seems to me to be not very good value at all, costing nearly a hundred pounds, and I was very disappointed with what you get for the money - no grill racks included, a meagre so-called cook book, one very restrictive non-variable heat setting, takes ages to reach heat. After a couple of months - where the Remoska mainly languished in the cupboard, I decided to go for another halogen cooker, and plumped for the Andrew James one. Having now used it a couple of times I am delighted. It seems to be better quality and more efficient than the JML, the halogen light is better protected from splashes, and really it does cook quickly. The only slight letdown was the lack of instructions - mainly with regard to the steamer plate, which they leave to you to work out, which I haven't as yet. The lid stand is a big bonus, which the JML lacked. In conclusion, I would recommend this oven as a better alternative to both the Remoska and the JML.

I love infomercials (my wife hates them!) I saw this halogen oven and instantly thought "Yes! I want one". So I reviewed the product and customer reviews and finally decided to purchase one. The final result: GREAT!

This little oven cooks fast! I took it to work and made steak and potatoes for all my co-workers in less than 40 min. It's easily portable, and cleaning (so far) seems simple.

I would recommend the accessory kit with the extension ring if you buy this product, otherwise trying to cook a full chicken and roast potatoes would be difficult.

Now, there has to be some cons right? Well, the only one I found so far is the instruction manual. It's rubbish! I downloaded a cookbook off the internet and it's helped a lot. The reason I say that is the original instruction manual doesn't even have a set guide for how long to cook items and at what temp. I'm not a huge fan of trial and error, so I recommend buying a separate cookbook.

Yet another post script!
After over 2 years of faultless service the bulb finally failed.
I ordered a new one. I received the wrong bulb and a few 'goodies'. I told them and they couldn't have been more appologetic and sent me the right one asking me to keep or dispose of the wrong goods.
Anyone can make a mistake!
Customer service like this is nigh on impossible to find these days! Every dealing I have had with Andrew James has been nothing short of a delight. In these days of tough trading conditions it is just about impossible to find a competitive company with excellent customer service (who speak the Queen's English!) understand your needs and see the customer as the key to their success.
This is a company that needs to survive this awful credit crunch on customer service alone.
I cannot recommend Andrew James highly enough!

To those who have said that the bulb fails and/or the top cracks I say use the product CAREFULLY!
I have now been using my Andrew James Halogen Oven for well over a year on a daily basis with no problems whatsoever! In fact I would say that this is one of the best products I've ever purchased!
I can see that in certain circumstances that it could break/fail but with careful usage ( as I have done) it has been a "Boon".
It's not like a lot of mechanical products that slowly get worse. It either works or it doesn't and mine DOES!

I saw infomercials for Halogen Ovens and thought what a wonderful device this seems. Being naturally suspicious I wondered what the pitfalls could be. I `googled' Halogen Ovens and soon came across forums exalting their versatility and lambasting some of the companies that sell them.
It would appear that these products only have one real big problem and that is the bulb can go. It is after all similar to that found in a halogen floodlight and I think that most of us know how unreliable they can be. There's one manufacturer that also suffers from the lid breaking.
I have to say that I was slightly put off from wasting my money particularly as many of the threads in the forums complained not of the product but the after sales service received from some companies. I would steer clear of 3 companies in particular, but for legal reasons I think it inappropriate to mention their names. However, if the thought of avoiding `Eye Deal Whirled'; `Pain Direct' with that awful American Mr.Tea and `(three letters close to the middle of the alphabet) Dye Wrecked Dot Com' seems to make sense then you've just saved yourself time trawling the threads of complaints against them regarding this product.
One name did stand out consistently as being a good product and having good customer service and that was ANDREW JAMES. I called them and got through to a human being! In the UK! Two results straight away. I asked about the bulb failing and I was categorically assured that within one year the product was covered by the guarantee regardless. No questions.
I am NOT in any way advocating that the end user should try to fix electrical products themselves unless they are suitably qualified but I did say that this looks like a reasonably easy product to fix in terms of the bulb. Andrew James can supply the bulbs but I would reiterate that this would terminate any guarantee if you `tampered' with the product and you should only attempt this if you are qualified.
Made myself a lovely sausage and bacon breakfast this morning. The sausages remained succulent and the bacon cooked just right. I've just heated some chicken tikka and the taste was like I've never had before.
The microwave is now demoted to warming soup and baked beans and the big oven? ... May be the Christmas Turkey.
Excellent product. Customer service that is what you would expect of a small family run business and not a big warehouse come Indian call centre operation. To cap it all as I live in Guernsey they did me a VAT free sale without the pain of having to claim it back later and it came with a stash of extra's including the obligatory lid stand.
