Just got this and made popcorn with it the other night. It's just like the ones I used to own when I lived in the US and Canada. They market it to dieters, but actually it's just a quick, clean way to make popcorn. You can add the butter, salt and spices after it's popped! It tastes a lot better than the microwave stuff, and YOU control what goes into it.

Has a tendency to spit out un-popped kernels along with the popped. You need a big bowl just to catch the popped corn as it emerges from the machine: use too small a bowl and the popped corn can, assisted by the hot air coming out of the machine, ricochet over a large area.
The BIG PLUS though is, if you're only used to corn popped in a saucepan using hot oil, the oil-free popped corn from this little beauty is good enough to eat without having to cover it in sugar to hide the taste of burnt oil.

having had a popcorn maker for years when it broke the grandchildren were disappointed so we checked them out online. This one was on offer at a fair price. It came promptly, complete with free bag of popping corn, and is as good as our old one. To all the reviewers who comment about their popcorn shooting off in all directions I would just say it is the same with most makes and the answer is to hold a teatowel between you and the machine. That way you are safe from very hot popcorn and it keeps it on the worksurface.
