I purchased this mixer to replace a bread maker which I was only using to mix the dough for hand shaping. After a lot of research I decided on this large capacity mixer as it has the auto setting for bread dough (amongst others). Don't let the relative lightness of the mixer put you off - the plastic suckers on the bottom make it stick to the work surface like glue. It's powerful motor makes easy work of the dough and after 5 mins on the auto setting the dough is ready for its first proving. It comes out as sweet as a nut with no sticky residue - the dough hook certainly collects all the ingredients together and makes a nice even dough mix. My wife is itching to use it for cakes but as I write this she hasn't had a chance yet! It is dead easy to clean and looks good on the kitchen units. For the price I just can't complain and would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a great value stand mixer which does exactly what it says in its advertising blurb. Nice one Andrew James.

I decided to invest in a new mixer after I noticed my hand held whisk wasn't living up to the job. At the minute I mainly bake cakes, and after a lot of trawling I had 3 mixers in mind. I chose to go with the Andrew James due to external review and since its arrival last Tuesday its been in use every night since.
The bottom has a concave dome meaning all the ingredients get mixed.
Though the parts are not all dishwasher safe I would highly recommend and it make 36 fairy cakes without any issues. Mixture was lovely and soft. The guard has meant my kitchen is no longer decorated by a light white dust from icing.
Personally I find it very light to move around as my cooking or cooking around requires.
Would highly recommend and I am now interested in other Andrew James products. Looking forward to putting to the test with 120 cupcakes this week.
Though I don't have experience of kenwood products the easy out of the box has made my life a lot easier.

After one year of use I thought I will post a review to help others.
Pros- Its cheap compared to the other 7 lit mixers available here, the timer helps as you dont have to look at the clock to see how long your dough is mixing for.
Cons- The balloon whisk broke after two months of use (medium use, ie one sponge cake a week), part of the balloon whisk that fits into the machine is made of cheap plastic and it cant withstand the use , I use 750g sponge mix which I think this machine should be able to handle as its a 7 lit model. So I phoned customer services and they replaced it free (Very good) but the balloon whisk keept breaking and once it broke for the third time , I was too embarassed to phone customer services as they might think I am mis-using the machine .Thats not the fact as I am a proffessional chef, so I ended up buying another machine.
Although the whisk was covered under warranty for one year and replaced for free , you dont want your machine breaking and let your family down (No cake for birthday)

Phone call to customer service takes about 20-30minutes long and its very frustuating. They should have listed all the accessories on their website as its easier to order, but in my case the balloon whisk is not listed and I had to make phone calls everytime the whisk broke.
To conclude the review , go for this machine if you are a very very light user .. once a month etc, otherwise go elsewhere. In essence you get what you pay for.

I had this mixer bought for me 2 years ago. The whisk snapped off into cake mix. I thought it would be easy to just
order a replacement part.. Not with Andrew James. Have spent 3 days trying to get through to company from moment they
opened to be told 12 in queue. Contacted by email first 3 days ago which has not yet been replied to. After sales service
is none existant because you cant get to speak to anyone. Would never buy any Andrew James product again because of
this.

If you are looking for a mixer that will last any length of time this isnt the one for you. After purchasing the mixer in 2013 I have had 2 of the attachments break as they are poorly made. The bulb whisk which I use more often has a plastic attachment which cracks and splits meaning that it needs replacing regularly and the dust shield has also cracked as well. When you contact Andrew James if its over the warranty they charge you to replace these and then in my case send me the wrong attachment for another mixer. I am still waiting for them to send me the correct attachment even though I have paid for this. Its a real shame that the attachments are so poorly and cheaply made as if it wasnt for this it would be a great mixer :-(

I really do love this mixer, it certainly does live up to it's description.I don't have any problems with the paddle attachments not hitting the bottom or the sides. Of course with every stand mixer you have to scrap down the sides of the bowl and that's normal. My only critique is that the motor LOUD and that's a shame because I can't use it while the family are asleep.
