Yes, I know this is a thingy for opening jars and bottles. But it also turns out to be very handy as a 'wrench' for loosening filters that have got a bit stuck on camera lenses. That's what I bought it for, and it seems to work quite well, though it's a bit of a stretch to get it round a 77mm filter on my biggest lens.

Haven't tried it on jars. But 4 stars as a filter wrench, and great at the price!

At 79pence this has to be a bargain.
It will fit large jars and is very useful around the kitchen as long as you have a good grip.

I bought this jar and bottle opener for my elderly 82 year old mother to help her to open jars and bottles obviously. When we tried to use it on a coca cola bottle it was virtually useless.Even I her son had trouble opening the bottle with this device. It is not worth sending it back as it would cost more in postage than the item is worth. Altogether very disappointing. I shall have to try and buy a much better one !My advice is don't buy it and waste your money!

We tried out our opener on a soda water bottle as a test. However, the teeth on the inside of the opener lacked sufficient grip even to undo this simple item, so we opened the bottle by hand. When we tried a more serious lid, i.e. a twist-to-open jam jar, not only did the teeth fail to grip but there is insufficient tension in the rubber handle to do the job and in any case the handle is too short to allow a strong twisting movement. We can't be bothered to return it for the small price we paid, so we will give it to our local charity shop.

This product was a complete let-down. It has a terrible rubbery smell, did not open several tops I tried and you need a very strong grip to make it work at all. Do not buy if you have arthritis or any grip problem it is far too stiff to be practicable for older people. It is by far the worst product I have ever bought from Amazon and it arrived the colour black when I anticipated blue. It arrived today and it's already in the bin!

This lid opener is really good. I have tried it on numerous lid sizes and so far, so good. It is very robust and much cheaper (and sturdier-looking) than other lid openers I've seen. I have developed bad rheumatism in my thumb and found it frustratingly difficult, and very painful, to open jars and bottles. This device has made the process much easier. You do still need to have a fairly good grip but the effort to open a container is much less painful. Have bought one for my mum too as she has terrible rheumatism in both hands... I'll have to see how she gets on with it.

This gadget looks simple to use, and should fit a wide range of bottle and jar sizes, however it's impossible for anyone with a reduced grip (who would be the very people needing it) to grip tightly enough to be effective. I sent it back.
