I have 3 cats and work away from home from time to time and friends and neighbours are not always available to feed them. I have used this feeder for about a month now. It is a bit fiddly to programme and the volume of food dispensed is a bit variable. I think it would also benefit from a mains power supply. Not too sure how long the batteries will last, so if I'm going to be away for a while I will probably put fresh batteries in before I leave.
The cats soon got used to the noise and they quickly learnt that the noise meant food!
I have not used the voice message as yet, the cats learnt to associate the noise with food so that there was no need to use this facility
On the whole a good solution for those of us who are not always about to feed our cats

Seems to work ok, and the cats don't need the voice message - the revolving drum wakes them up. The programming is not well thought out, and in fact always causes trouble to get right (and getting it right is clearly important). Along with this the instructions are not well written and are needlessly repetitive and confusing; they demand close attention. Also the control panel is awkwardly situated and difficult to read. However the product is cheaper than boarding, but it is important to have someone looking in every few days to make sure everything is ok.

While there are a couple of what I consider to be minor negatives with this product; namely it being fiddly to program initially and it being noisy when in operation, they aren't enough for me to drop my 5 star rating.
I have two large domestic shorthair cats and I have been using this feeder to dispense their food four times a day at the smallest food volume setting. My cats have a tendency to eat too much too fast which causes them to sometimes be sick, so feeding them little and often is the best way I've found to combat this. Like most people, I'm out during the day at work so manually feeding them small amounts at set intervals isn't very practical. Plus, also like most people, I sometimes want to be away from home occasionally for the weekend but need the cats to be fed in my absence. This feeder meets both my requirements well.
And even better, I have it set to start their feeds early enough in the morning that the cats aren't waking me up doing their 'feed me' routine that involved attacking my (closed) bedroom door, jumping up at the door handle then letting go so it made a *bang*, and even flinging themselves at the window above the bedroom door to peer and mew pitifully at me through the glass pane, holding onto the window ledge with their front paws while their back legs scrabbled for purchase on the door followed by a /thud/ when their front paws couldn't hold them up any longer and they dropped to the floor. Not the quietest way to be woken up in the morning ... scrabbling ... *bang* ... /thud/ ... pitiful meowing ... it was torture!

Brilliant Gizmo for Gizmo the cat!
