Product Description

About the Author

Andre Rieu and his five siblings were surrounded by classical music throughout their childhood in Maastricht, Holland. Their father, a professional conductor, encouraged Andre to take up violin lessons at the age of five. Andre trained in classical music at conservatoires in Liege, Maastricht and Brussels, where he gained the Premier Prix. He founded his first orchestra in 1978, the Maastricht Salon Orchestra. Nine years later, he directed the first rehearsals of the Johann Strauss Orchestra, at that time just twelve-strong.

Aside from the dozens of album recordings, Andre and his orchestra are famous for their huge live shows and massive touring schedule. Their world tours have taken them across the globe, but every year Andre makes sure to play in his home town of Maastricht, where he now lives in a castle with his wife, Marjorie. Andre received the Classic BRIT Award in 2012 for the album of the year with 'And The Waltz Goes On'. He continues to tour the world, with an extensive set of tour dates for 2014 and 2015.

The Book Andre Rieu My Music My Life by Marjorie Rieu, I bought for my mum for her

87TH Birthday. She had already fallen in love with Andre and his music so from the

stories and photos of his life she now feels she knows him personally.

It makes you realise The World is a much nicer place once you have discovered The

Magical Andre Rieu.

Do not pay Amazon's prices (new or secondhand) for this book. The book is substantially cheaper if ordered direct from Andre Rieu's Official website. I ordered it yesterday for 16.95 euros including p&p.

Trying to find a good book about Andre in english for a present for a fan was hard. But this book has loads of info about him, where others told you more about where he lived.
I recommend this as a gift for any Andre fan.
