First heard a track from this on Classic FM and decided to take a punt. I tell you what, I reckon this disc could save me pounds on psychotherapy, it's so uplifting!

This is the best recording of Stanley's Trumpet Voluntary that exists!
Wonderful Trumpet playing and the organ backing is superb.

It would be difficult to find two performers of the calibre of Maurice Andre and Jane Parker Smith. Their arrangement of John Stanley's Trumpet Voluntary cannot be bettered. Each of the tracks are thrilling, but listen to Mozart's Alleliua for a treat. Oh, and Track Six is well worth a listen, too.

I have never forgotten hearing a track from this album for the first time. It was Bach's famous Air and it reduced me to tears. That was ten years ago and i still get the same thrill when i hear the music now.

Maurice André lifts trumpet playing to a level which is beyond anything i've ever heard before. His version of Albinoni's "Adagion in G minor" is thrilling: it is like listening to a soul lost in a desert. His rendering of Purcell's "Queen's Dolour" is sweet and poignant and his version of Stanley's "Trumpet Voluntary" is bold, majestic.

This is an intimate album. As the title suggests he is accompanied only by an organ (excellently so too). It's a wonderful combination of sounds: the purity of the trumpet contrasts beautifully with the complexity of the organ.

Sublime.

I bought this compact disc after hearing one of the items on Classic FM one morning. It was the "Trumpet Tune" by Stanley - an 18th century composer of whom I had never heard. The blend of organ and trumpet was superb and I felt totally uplifted by it and decided to buy the cd just for that tune alone. The other items range from quiet, thoughtful music, to enjoyable well known classical music like part of Handel's "Largo" and then on to stirring, rejuvenating and joyful tunes such as Jeremiah Clarke's "Trumpet Voluntary". They are brought to life by the skill of the three organists and the wonderful clarity of the trumpet played by Maurice Andre, who is in a heavenly class of his own.
