Product Description

CD Description

In his last Virgin Classics recital, a varied live programme from New York’s Carnegie Hall, Piotr Anderszewski included Faschingsschwank aus Wien by Schumann. On this new release, he focuses entirely on that quintessential German Romantic, whose 200th anniversary is celebrated in 2010.

“For me, Schumann is the great humanist,” says Piotr Anderszewski. “His purity and honesty touch me profoundly.” This new recital brings together three of the composer’s more rarely performed keyboard works, including the last piano music he completed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Important disc 23 Aug 2011
Format:Audio CD
This disc belongs in any decent collection I purchased it for the Morning Songs, but was charmed by the whole disc. Some recent much vaunted releases have sometimes left me restless and fidgety - this fine performance is easy to go back to and is refreshing and added to my love of Schuman

Very fine - try the performance of the Rhenish Syphony conducted by Karajan and extend the mood Schumann: 4 Symphonies

2.0 out of 5 stars Lack of presence 20 Feb 2011
By M. Niquet - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Well this is probably very good. And Anderszewski is one of my favorite pianist. But here the poor sound spoils the party. In fact, after 3 listenings, I could't catch that music yet: a lack of presence. I give up.
