DVD Description

This DVD is very personal to me as I am a mum who gained 60 pounds during my pregnancy. Through this experience, I discovered that there is a way to get your body back after babies, and you have to start as soon as your doctor says its okay. This DVD will teach you the method with which to achieve incredible results.--Tracy Anderson

No specialist equipment required--Tracy recommends weight exercises for the arms to be performed using a 500ml bottle of water in each hand.

Truly is a miracle you will see the results you never thought possible.--Gwyneth Paltrow

I love Tracy Andersons Method. Her approach to exercise is smart, creative and empowering. I believe that Tracy can transform any woman.--Shakira

Being a fan of much of Tracy's work I was keen to see her take on post-natal fitness; I am a Pilates teacher and specialise in pregnacy and post-natal Pilates. On the whole I was surprised by what I saw. I would deem much of her abdominal series too difficult for all but the strongest of clients who have been doing Pilates for years, pretty much unachievable for the average post-natal woman and bordering on dangerous for a woman who had a c-section delivery. Abdominals will be far to weak and compromised and the lower back vulnerable to such high-load exercises such as the pike-style leg lifts.
Whilst Tracy is dynamic and encouraging, and correct in saying that you CAN get your body back after giving birth I don't believe this high-impact work is the best or safest way to go about it in the months after having a baby - I have not had a baby and am in the peak of physical fitness and strength yet I struggled to do many of the abdominal exercises, and imagine that, unsupervised many woman trying the DVD would do the exercise wrongly thus only resulting in worsening diastasis recti (separation of the abdominal muscles) and/or risking an injury.
Frustrating though it may be for a woman who is unused to a saggy tummy, slow and steady is undoubtedly the safest and in the long run most effective way to go. This is perhaps one for the super-fit woman who has been doing a gentler form of exercise for the first 6-8 months after giving birth...

I am normally not the type of person who writes reviews but people's unnecessary and unhelpful criticism made me do it.

I have 2 of Tracy's DVD's, the Mat Workout and the Post-Pregnancy workout. Long story short, I had a baby at the end of 2008, got the weight off fine without too much effort, had another one 6 months ago and it has been a lot harder this time. I started with the Mat workout as my friend was raving about it but due to lack of time (and motive!) I stopped. Then I decided to try the Post-Pregnancy workout instead. Admittedly, the first time I did the DVD, I was in tears and gave up half way through - it seemed so difficult and I was in pain! But as Tracy says "You have got to keep with it, don't be discouraged" - I did it again the following day. I didn't manage to do every single sequence but I lasted until the end of the DVD. The 3rd and 4th day I got even better, managed to do a little bit of even the hardest things. She keeps mentioning that if you can't do the whole thing, do as much as you can and gives you easier alternatives.
Yes, I would probably say that 6 weeks after giving birth I would have struggled a lot more but could have certainly STARTED at around 3 months post-pregnancy. I say started because it is ok to take your time and do what you can as much as you can. The more you do it the better you get (already after 3-4 days)
I quite like her style, she doesn't speak much (one of the main points why people criticise) and she doesn't look too stupidly happy like lots of workout trainers do. She gives more directions during this DVD than she did with the Mat Workout so it is easier to follow. But I like it anyway if I don't have to listen to the same text over again every day (personal preference).
So yes, DVD consists of abs workout, lots of different rotations - you will feel like you won't be able to make it! Legs, your butt will burn! Arms section is good but much better in the Mat Workout so might wanna combine.
All in all I think it's a brilliant workout DVD, it gets horrendously difficult at times but that's what effective workout is about, you will see the results and it's worth it! Good luck!

Hardest workout ever! 18 May 2010
Format:DVD
I ordered this DVD from America even though I have never been pregnant/had a baby. I am a Tracy Anderson fan, and really wanted to give this one a go seeing as my main problem area is my tum. I have to say I think this is one of the hardest workouts I have ever done (the others being other Tracy DVDs :) ). It has a 25 minute abs section to start and works your abs really well. There as some more advanced moves, but you just work up to them in your own time. The dvd is calm, id imagine good if you have a baby nearby as it is set to calming classical music. The legs and arms sections are also great, but I think the abs is the best. I noticed within a week that I lost my muffin tops and my belly felt generally tighter. You do have to do the cardio to keep seeing results, as the toning will be hidden under the flab, but this is great to start off slowly. I really would reccomend this dvd to anyone, be it new mum, wobbly belly, or Tracy Fan looking for more material to rotate. It is a mission, but soo worth it. Enjoy!
