Beautifully written and presented by a knowledgeable author with lots of sensible and useful information. Get this guide if you only want one book on the area.

I purchased this book along with the Insight Guides to Southern Spain Costa Del Sol - Andalucia. I much prefer the Insight Guides book because it has a lot more photos and maps than Footprint does. I do like the fact that Footprint gives suggested times/days needed to see sights and cities. That helped me plan my trip better. Insight did not offer this type of information. Footprint does not have many maps of areas in the book. It's very text heavy. But that may prove to be better because it offers more information on all the sights, hotels and activities. All in all, I would suggest Insight Guides for Andalucia over Footprint. BTW, I usually buy Lonely Planet travel guides but had read that their book on Andalucia has little information about Costa Del Sol. This is my first experience with both Insight Guides and Footprint.

I bought this guide prior to my trip to Granada & Seville. The book itself is small enough to slip into a handbag and not to bulky or heavy to carry compared to some other guides.
I found the walking routes he describes of both cities really helpful & they definitely improved our trip. We also tried several of his restaurant reccomendations which were all great, there is only one cafe which we were unable to find as it looked to have shut-but this is bound to happen occasionally.
There is lots of useful information for helping you get off the beaten track and avoid tourist traps.
I do think you need an additional map to the ones in the book, although they are useful for locating places - we found maps easily in tourist info or a kiosk.
