CD Description

* RARE MONO MIX - FIRST TIME ON CD!
* INCLUDES 12 BONUS TRACKS!
* FROM THE ORIGINAL MASTER TAPES!
* A SUNSHINE POP CLASSIC!

Their smashing debut, And Then...Along Comes The Association was originally issued by Valiant Records in July 1966. The Billboard Pop #5 LP sported a #1 single, `Cherish,' and the Top 10 hit, `Along Comes Mary.'

Produced by the legendary CURT BOETTCHER (The Millennium/The Ballroom/Sagittarius) And Then...Along Comes The Association perfectly juxtaposed the band's pioneering folk-rock sound with Boettcher's innovative studio experimentation.

This DELUXE EXPANDED MONO EDITION features the original mono mix of the album, which has been out of print since 1967.

The 16-page, full-colour booklet includes rare, unpublished photos and extensive liner notes featuring the participation of original band members.

SOURCED FROM THE ORIGINAL MASTER TAPES!

The expanded edition is the only way you get the first single which was a version of the Dylan song One Too Many Mornings.
Never out and out psychedelic the Association were more Mamas & Paps/Harpers Bixarre who went further into the Easy Listening field by the end of the 60s rather than developing the ideas behind Pandora's Golden Heebie Jeebies.
Being on the same label as the Cascades and Barry & the Tamerlanes meant that there would be access to name producers like Curt Boettcher

Very much early Association but still with the trademark harmonies and singles. most of the stuff is well known but mono versions are the best way to hear them. Beware however the last five tracks are instrumental versions and non-essential, unlike the rest of the album.

The group's best album presented in the original format with more than interesting extras and a very good history of the band's entry into the public domaine contained within the sleeve notes. I'm waiting for the similar re-issue of 'Renaissance' now.
