In my opinion, the best book ever written about dementia. I have worked in health and social care for 25 years and have had more dementia training than you can shake a stick at. I learned more from reading this book than I did at any training session. It really makes you think about the person you are caring for and enables you to create different ways of delivering person centred care. I have two copies which are currently being passed around the whole of our care team to read. Absolutely brilliant, you won't be disappointed. I recommend anyone who works with, cares for or knows someone with dementia reads this book.

This is a wonderful book that encourages you to really see the person and to understand the meaning behind their behaviour. Anyone, from relatives to care staff and even GP's can read this book and take something positive from it. I read it through in a few hours and found it quite moving. It is presented as a series of stories about real people exhibiting some of the repetitive aspects of behaviour frequently encountered in people with dementia such as screaming, wandering and even violence. You will have fresh insight into such behaviour after reading this book. This is a modest little book but it really does have the capacity to influence working practice for the better. I would recommend it highly.

And Still the Music Plays: Stories of People with Dementia
I found myself searching for help and understanding of the awful condition of dementia following my mother's rapid decline into vascular dementia. This book was informative, reassuring, sad but so helpful in feeling what was happening was 'normal' and gave helpful tips. Highly recommended for anyone involved/touched by this condition

Good examples of clinical practice that can guide intervention and a good insight into the experience of those with dementia and their carers. Easy reading too. Highly recommend.
