As someone who consumes a lot of rock biographies, I know they can vary dramatically in quality. Dawson's labour of love is a fascinating read, especially as Nicky Hopkins, despite his importance as a musician, has previously remained a little-known character. Here all his flawed talents are laid bare in a host of stories and interviews. I learnt all sorts of things I never knew. Impeccably written and researched - and, astonishingly for this genre, completely error and typo-free!

This book chronicles the amazing life of Nicky Hopkins session pianist. My dad had dealings with him and is mentioned on page 251 /2 Denis Knowles, please enjoy the read
