Format: Audio CD
The versatile actress/singer/dancer Ann-Margret made ripples during the early Sixties playing sex kittens in numerous movies so it was no surprise her RCA albums would enjoy a similar measure of success with her later move into Las Vegas and television Specials keeping her name on the billboards.

This triple-treat of albums is certainly welcome with AND HERE SHE IS (1961) her winning introduction to the world of vinyl, and with excellent arrangements the singer brings sex appeal to bear on those home hi-fi systems. From the opening BABY WON'T YOU PLEASE COME HOME? through to LOVIE JOE, it's hard to resist oldies PLEASE BE KIND, MORE THAN YOU KNOW and I SHOULD CARE as sultry ballads whilst CHICAGO and BYE BYE BLUES are easy swingers with KANSAS CITY and TEACH ME TONIGHT sliced with bluesy elements.

ON THE WAY UP (1962) delivers a more rhythm and blues selection to the fore with Ann-Margret and an authentic Nashville sound having fun on such favourites as OH LONESOME ME, FEVER, HEARTBREAK HOTEL and I JUST DON`T UNDERSTAND - the latter hitting the Billboard Charts when released as a single.

THE VIVACIOUS ONE (1962) offers a playful and varied pop-styled diet, with standards THERE'LL BE SOME CHANGES MADE, PLEASE DON'T TALK ABOUT ME WHEN I'M GONE, BEGIN THE BEGUINE and even INKA DINKA DOO but all revised for a more contemporaneous thrusting treatment; sharing track space with THE ROCK AND ROLL WALTZ, THIRTEEN MEN and jazz classic SENOR BLUES, with JIM DANDY enjoying some lower-chart success when released as a single.

We can only wonder at what Ann-Margret might have achieved had she focused on a singing career, but I suspect that she made the right decision to focus on acting. She certainly had a nice singing voice and was capable of using it on a diverse range of material that included, jazz, pop, easy listening and a dash of country, but that still might not have been enough to keep a singing career going through the sixties.

Her most successful recording was I Just Don't Understand, from her second album (And here she is...Ann-Margret), which became an American top 20 hit. She also had a couple of minor American hits at around that time.

I found this to be a most interesting collection, which includes all her 1961 and 1962 recordings - three complete albums the tracks she recorded for the soundtrack of State fair and other tracks not featured on those three albums.

Beautiful, sexy, sultry and multi-talented Sweden-born Ann-Margret sings wonderfully on this two-discer of 49 songs from 1961-1962.
For me, Ann-Margret, could rock 'n' roll with the best of the other female rockers of the era, Wanda Jackson, Connie Francis, Brenda Lee, as well as of course sing ballards like that formerly mentioned trio too.
And who can ever forget, Ann-Margret's sexy performances in the 1963 / 1964 fun musical, 'Viva Las Vegas', with which A-M co-starred with Elvis Presley, and they recorded two wonderous 'duets' together, 'The Lady Loves Me', and, 'You're The Boss',.

A versatile actress / singer / dancer.

Jasmine do it agin. What I hear you ask? Well, put out a collection much sought after and all from the public domain period. Any problems? None. It strikes me that ever since the new law came in we have been offered so many top class compilations across a wide genre of music.the young actress, personality and vocalist Ann-Margret began with "And Here She Is" as her debut LP. The second album is a Nashville influenced one. The third LP was a contemporary selection. Also included are songs from the new film musical version of "State Fair". There are more bonus items too. Jasmine have done another good job and the CD looks alluring too. Great UK price.

Here are details in full of her first 3 LPs...
