HASH(0x8b3eca68) out of 5 stars Uncovering ancient Rome 19 Sept. 2012
By Anibal Madeira - Published on
Format: Hardcover
This is a very good introductory young readers book to daily life in ancient Rome. With a very short introduction to the history of this magnificent city and its humble beginnings, the author centers the book detailing how Rome's inhabitants lived, worked, raised their families, what they ate, how they had fun and their constructions (both public buildings, roads and also households).

You will find 4 acetate sheets that allow the reader to see exterior and interior views of the Coliseum, an insulae, a Villa and public baths. You can literally uncover those historic buildings with the flip of a page!

This book is profusely illustrated, although the art work varies considerably, from wonderful illustrations (like the ones showing women and children lifestyle), to some quite plain (or even weak).

This is an excellent aid to help young readers to time travel to one of the most fascinating civilizations in the world. Although it could come packed with more information and with more uniform art.
