4.0 out of 5 stars Informative 8 May 2011
There are 3 DVDs with 2 episodes on each DVD. The episodes trace the rise and fall of Rome and use some of the words of Roman writers of the time with good visuals as well as commentary. There are British experts with an American commentary and American experts, most of whom are good. Some of the info overlaps within episodes so there is not a straight narrative and the times are a bit hard to grasp but there is a lot of good information aided by the good visuals. It is really watchable and very informative.
A very good overview that encourages you to follow up aspects of interest.

1.0 out of 5 stars Boring. 25 May 2011

Patronizing and boring, no relevant information to anyone over the age of 7. Buy it if your child likes Roman myth and history but not as a source of raw brilliant Discovery channel knowledge. Poor.
