Ron (Will Ferrell) gets terminated from his job and leaves his wife. He is offered a job from upstart GNN 24 hour news. He assembles his news team etc. etc. etc. The plot is not important. The film is fairly simple and it is more like a connection of skits and one liners than a real situation comedy. You could pretty much start watching the movie at any time and it wouldn't matter. The humor, while crude at times, was original and funny. Sure there were a few scenes I would have cut, the condom selection and racist dinner, but there were too many scenes which had me laughing out loud. Excellent support cast.

Some lines from the film:

"Bats: Chicken of the cave."
"He wanted to donate his organs before he died."
"Remember ten years from now..."
"He bottle fed and raised a shark..."

This is high caliber low brow humor. Crude and racial at times.

Parental Guide: 2 F-bombs. No nudity. Brief comical sex scene. Crude sexual talk.

It was a good film. Certainly not a bad one. I heard this came out so I had to watch it after enjoying the first film and yeah I liked this a lot.

Every bit as funny as the original. Probably best to be wary of anyone who says otherwise, & possibly set kittens on them.

...let alone see the light of day.

Do yourself a favor: if you consider watching this piece of humorless dreck, consider the many alternative ways to spend the 119 minutes of your life you will invest. Because no matter how old or how young you might be, there will come a time when you want those two hours back. And when it comes, you will remember the time you sat in front of this wire-to-wire disaster of a movie with deep regret.

Few movie watchers are neutral on Will Ferrell. Usually I find his presence in a movie to yield enough self-deprecating and physically charged humor that a moderately entertaining movie experience will result. The original Anchorman movie effectively skewered the topics it took on (in a big wrapper of slapstick), and was funny enough to entice me to watch the sequel.

Big mistake. This movie contains less than 10 minutes of legitimately humorous content. Ron's old San Diego newsroom gang is recruited for the overnight shift at a newly launched 24/7 news channel, and hilarity fails to ensue. The few bright spots center on the growth of cable news and the popular iconography that results (car chases, obsession with celebrity crime, overdone graphics and utter lack of concern for facts).

The balance of this movie consists of idiotic back stories that could serve to spotlight many things in funny ways. Instead it bungles every effort as comic explorations of race, relationships, ratings, disability (yeah, really) and every other thing it takes on falls flat.

Anchorman 2 ends with an incomprehensible battle scene populated with celebrity cameos, but by then the damage is done. The principals in this have been going through the motions for nearly two hours already, and these drop ins appear to be doing the same.

If somebody you care about suggests this: do yourself and that person a favor: run away!

Anchorman was great but number two is errr....a number two!
Unfunny and desperate for laughs which were either cringe-making in the bad sense or just plain not funny.
If the whole film could've been as funny as the funny bits it would've been a top film but sadly, it was just a shambles of dire jokes.
Great shame.

Loved the first film so this was a HUGE disappointment. Actually couldn't sit all the way through it and I very rarely abandon films. Utterly boring, tedious and unfunny.

I think fans of the original Anchorman will find enough to like about this sequel to make it worth a watch (I did). Sadly its nowhere near as fresh or consistently funny as its predecessor.

The plot (for what its worth) is largely non existent and the film has a thrown together feel to it, more like a collection of sketches. Some of it works, some of it doesn't. When it does work it can be hilarious at times. All the familiar faces are here and there are some chucklesome celebrity cameos later on.

Overall, still fun in places but not as classy.
