Seven years after capturing the heart of his co-anchor and wife, Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate), Burgundy (Will Ferrell) is offered the chance of lifetime: to be in on the world’s first 24-hour global cable news network, GNN, in New York City. The newsman quickly rounds up his classic news team – sports guy Champ Kind (David Koechner), man on the street Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd) and weatherman Brick Tamland (Steve Carell) – and heads to The Big Apple. Upon arriving, he is quickly challenged by his strong female boss, Linda Jackson (Meagan Good), Australian multi-millionaire network owner Kench Allenby (Josh Lawson) and a chiseled popular lead anchor, Jack Lime (James Marsden). It’s up to Ron and the team to find their own way to the top of news – and the top of the ratings.

...let alone see the light of day.

Do yourself a favor: if you consider watching this piece of humorless dreck, consider the many alternative ways to spend the 119 minutes of your life you will invest. Because no matter how old or how young you might be, there will come a time when you want those two hours back. And when it comes, you will remember the time you sat in front of this wire-to-wire disaster of a movie with deep regret.

Few movie watchers are neutral on Will Ferrell. Usually I find his presence in a movie to yield enough self-deprecating and physically charged humor that a moderately entertaining movie experience will result. The original Anchorman movie effectively skewered the topics it took on (in a big wrapper of slapstick), and was funny enough to entice me to watch the sequel.

Big mistake. This movie contains less than 10 minutes of legitimately humorous content. Ron's old San Diego newsroom gang is recruited for the overnight shift at a newly launched 24/7 news channel, and hilarity fails to ensue. The few bright spots center on the growth of cable news and the popular iconography that results (car chases, obsession with celebrity crime, overdone graphics and utter lack of concern for facts).

The balance of this movie consists of idiotic back stories that could serve to spotlight many things in funny ways. Instead it bungles every effort as comic explorations of race, relationships, ratings, disability (yeah, really) and every other thing it takes on falls flat.

Anchorman 2 ends with an incomprehensible battle scene populated with celebrity cameos, but by then the damage is done. The principals in this have been going through the motions for nearly two hours already, and these drop ins appear to be doing the same.

If somebody you care about suggests this: do yourself and that person a favor: run away!

Anchorman was great but number two is errr....a number two!
Unfunny and desperate for laughs which were either cringe-making in the bad sense or just plain not funny.
If the whole film could've been as funny as the funny bits it would've been a top film but sadly, it was just a shambles of dire jokes.
Great shame.

Ron (Will Ferrell) gets terminated from his job and leaves his wife. He is offered a job from upstart GNN 24 hour news. He assembles his news team etc. etc. etc. The plot is not important. The film is fairly simple and it is more like a connection of skits and one liners than a real situation comedy. You could pretty much start watching the movie at any time and it wouldn't matter. The humor, while crude at times, was original and funny. Sure there were a few scenes I would have cut, the condom selection and racist dinner, but there were too many scenes which had me laughing out loud. Excellent support cast.

Some lines from the film:

"Bats: Chicken of the cave."
"He wanted to donate his organs before he died."
"Remember ten years from now..."
"He bottle fed and raised a shark..."

This is high caliber low brow humor. Crude and racial at times.

Parental Guide: 2 F-bombs. No nudity. Brief comical sex scene. Crude sexual talk.

I am not going to trounce all over Anchorman 2, there is just enough gags and tomfoolery that gets some proper belly laughs to justify watching it. Thats about as recommendable as i am likely to be though.
We get reacquainted with the supporting characters who, in the first movie, seemed important at the beginning but ultimately had little to do with story as it progressed, and they get to go through the same motion here.
The black jokes and black dinner sequence were clichéd and insipid. Everyone has heard a white person or comedian imitate a black person thousands of times and seeing Will Ferrell do it is not much funnier. Brick's(Carell) role here becomes overbearing and it is like they have all suddenly become caricatures of their original characters. It has a good opening, vibrant half an hour but once the bloated, cameo-filled fight happens toward the end you will almost be nodding off.
At the end of it, it felt like a high school reunion with people you determine were more joyless than endearingly nerdy. The first movie was charming and satirical, its dour sequel is funny in places but too over zealous and re-hashed in its style. Nothing classy about this.

After a long wait , I finally settled down and watched without doubt the worst will Ferrell film ever ,and honestly there have been some real howlers .This was a prime example of a film made with no script .
It just stumbles along at no real pace and with a few very poor gags that's it

Oh my word this is an awful film. Just awful. Don't waste your time. I am happy that we all agreed to give up after an hour. That second hour could have been spent doing anything and it would have been better spent than watching this.

I was so looking forward to this movie but what a disappointment it turned out to be.
This is one of those movies/sequels where you really have to think what was the point. Like so many other films it just did not meet the same standards set by the first film (which was no masterpiece either).
In 2 hours three are only two or three funny scenes. I must admit I did enjoy the end scene and the cameos.
Like a lot of other movies the trailers made it look really good but aside from the clips shown in the trailer there isn't really much else to laugh at in the film. I found a lot of the scenes in the movie to stupid to be funny.
The biggest problem this movie has is that it just isn't that funny.
