Anatomy for Beginners was the first television airing of a real and spontaneous demonstration of human anatomy. The beauty and intricacy of the human body is laid bare in a sophisticated modern version of a tradition that extends back to the middle ages and beyond.
In this programme you can see highlights of the dissections and learn more about the human body. Your anatomical guides are controversial anatomist Dr Gunther von Hagens, who dissects the bodies, and pathologist Prof. John Lee who explains how they work in health and in disease. At the heart of each episode is a human dissection, carried out by von Hagens, each episode focussing on a different set of anatomical systems: movement, circulation, digestion and reproduction

The programmes themselves are excellent. Books on anatomy can only go so far. Neat diagrams all colour coded etc. The body is not like that. The lymphatic system is not green and the endocrine system is not blue. Here you see the body in its natural, albeit non functioning state.
