I'm prepping for NBDE I, and I'm really glad I found this book. It's essentially all you need for the Anatomy Section. It's a tough book to read but when you understand it, you're in a position to teach your classmates.
BRS Anatomy, First Aid NBDE, Decks don't even come close to the depth and effectiveness of this book. It covers all the major systems you need in the anatomy section, including neuro and embryo,(with obvious emphasis on the intratemp, pterygo, oral, and pharyngeal regions.)
I have trouble remembering structures and their location without understanding their fxns. That's why Netters or Clemente just doesn't do it for me, there's no explanations. This book is the best because it ties up structure with fxn, which in my opinion is the right way to learn anatomy.
For example: When other books just tell you 1st order neurons of pain and temp of the head and neck synapse on trigeminal gang except for proprioception, this book gives you pictures on why proprioception is the exception. Shows how it goes straight up to synapse on the mesencephalic nucleus. But before all that, this book will give you a general neuroanatomy overview on major sensory and motor systems. So you actually understand the crap you're reading. Not just memorizing words.
