Product Description

Review

From the second edition: "An excellent book...clearly written by teachers who understand the specialized needs of dental students in anatomy."-- International Dental Journal

Product Description

This book aims to provide the dental student with a description of all the gross, neurological, and developmental anatomy (apart from that of the dentition itself) necessary for the practice of dentistry and its major specialties. It is designed primarily as a textbook for the undergraduate student who is pursuing a practical course in topographical anatomy, but contains enough detail for the postgraduate dentist reading for additional qualifications.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very detailed, heavy to read, diagrams & headings useful, 11 Mar 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Anatomy for Dental Students (Paperback)
This book is useful to anyone studying gross anatomy of the thorax, head and neck. It also covers the nervous system but this is less detailed. The detail given in the book can make it quite hard to read. However the subheadings are good for dividing up large chunks of information. The diagrams given are clear and important parts are in colour. A glossary is included but this covers only a translation from the latin or greek word that the term is derived from. Therefore the glossary is not very useful.

4.0 out of 5 stars A useful guide to dental anatomy, 23 Jan 2000
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Anatomy for Dental Students (Paperback)
This is a very practical and comprehensive book for dental anatomy, giving a complete overview of the subject, rather concise in certain difficult area of the subject like neuroanatomy, a good introductory book for dental student which I recommend strongly.

5.0 out of 5 stars MUST HAVE for Dental Students Esp. NBDE PART I, 27 May 2008
By Brian S. Lee - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Anatomy for Dental Students (Paperback)
I'm prepping for NBDE I, and I'm really glad I found this book. It's essentially all you need for the Anatomy Section. It's a tough book to read but when you understand it, you're in a position to teach your classmates.

BRS Anatomy, First Aid NBDE, Decks don't even come close to the depth and effectiveness of this book. It covers all the major systems you need in the anatomy section, including neuro and embryo,(with obvious emphasis on the intratemp, pterygo, oral, and pharyngeal regions.)

I have trouble remembering structures and their location without understanding their fxns. That's why Netters or Clemente just doesn't do it for me, there's no explanations. This book is the best because it ties up structure with fxn, which in my opinion is the right way to learn anatomy.

For example: When other books just tell you 1st order neurons of pain and temp of the head and neck synapse on trigeminal gang except for proprioception, this book gives you pictures on why proprioception is the exception. Shows how it goes straight up to synapse on the mesencephalic nucleus. But before all that, this book will give you a general neuroanatomy overview on major sensory and motor systems. So you actually understand the crap you're reading. Not just memorizing words.
