Book Description

26 Oct 2000 0823024970 978-0823024971
This manual offers techniques that visually simplify and refine the study of the body's muscles and skeleton into concepts that can easily be used by beginning and intermediate artists alike. One example of this is the human neck. There are many large and small muscles in the neck, all rendered in great detail in most anatomy books, yet only four of them are ever visible. This book attacks anatomy from an artist's point of view, offering such valuable concepts as how to self-check the proportions of the head and body to make sure they are accurate, without the need of a model.

1.0 out of 5 stars This is a very poor book. 15 Sep 2001
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
I own over thirty books on drawing the human figure: this is, by far, the worst that I have ever seen. The drawings within are not of a professional standard and the lessons are all covered much better elsewhere (ie. Bridgman, Vanderpoel, Civardi, Hamm. I would not recommend anybody learn the complicated and, for any artist, important subject of anatomy from such a poor source.

4.0 out of 5 stars Human Anatomy made amazingly easy 31 Dec 2010
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
A nicely designed book. Hart has provided content on proportional contruction in many of the facial features and in the body height. Page 22 shows detail of recreating a head of the same character in different positions. Page 51 explains the diffrence in male and female anatomy. As an artist hart has managed to break down the human form into smaller easier structures to give a manakin impression. A number of poses are shown.
Overall great artwork but not much good for a beginner artist as the drawings done are not easily recreatable in step by step ideas.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another excellent book by Christopher Hart 18 Dec 2000
Format:Paperback
As a keen artist with a particular interest in cartooning and comic book art Christopher Hart has provided another excellent book for my collection. Informative and easy to follow a must for budding artists and profesionals alike.
