Product Description

Sedation and anaesthesia are a crucial part of veterinary practice. The protocols and methods involved are often complex and vary considerably from animal to animal. The veterinary nurse has a pivotal role in anaesthesia, being directly involved before, during and after the anaesthetic period.

This is one of the only books to address the needs of veterinary nurses. This book provides detailed coverage of the physiological, pharmaceutical and physical aspects of anaesthesia, and contains detailed sections on rabbits, rodents, birds, reptiles, and larger animals.

  • Essential information for trainee veterinary nurses, student nurses and practising veterinary nurses
  • The only anaesthesia book written for veterinary nurses
  • Written in a clear and accessible way by veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses
  • Suitable for those with or without previous subject knowledge

5.0 out of 5 stars Anaesthesia for VN's, 4 Sep 2003
By Gareth Ford VN CertEd (Newport, South Wales United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This book is clearly set out to be for nurses both student and qualified and leading up to diploma level.

It is great to have a book which helps students and QVNs.

And the made advantage is that it is from a nurses view point not a vets.

A recommended read for all students and QVNs interested in anaesthesia.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointingly confusing, 11 Mar 2004
By A Customer
Yes, I found this book good and informative, but it lacked explaination, diagrams and definition. It talks about direct blood pressure taking, not common in general practice, therefore common sense would tell you that most VN's will not have seen it used, yet there is no picture or diagram of it in practice.
I find myself having to look up the internet for terms.
It is marketed as a book for people who have no knowledge of the subject-I thank the lord I have!
Don't get me wrong it is a very valuable resourse, which is very informative, but have a dictionary and a vet to hand!
