Product Description

Third installment of the reptilian cult horror franchise. This made-for-TV sequel sees David Hasselhoff, of 'Baywatch' fame, playing a ruthless mercenary on the hunt for a pair of giant serpents that are on the loose and causing havoc in the Romanian countryside. Teaming up with snake researcher Amanda (Crystal Allen), 'the Hoff' must stop the slithering, homicidal boas before they reach the city...

Two giant snakes are undergoing testing in a covert research facility, conducted by brilliant scientist Amanda (Crystal Allen, Maid in Manhattan). However, Murdoch the financier (John Rhys-Davies, The Lord of the Rings trilogy) pushes the experiment too far and the snakes escape, heading towards the nearest city. In addition, one of the snakes is pregnant. Hammett (David Hasselhoff, Baywatch) is the merciless soldier of fortune and snake slayer who is given the task of heading off the deadly snakes before they encounter the general public.

3.0 out of 5 stars Three's a charm, but mostly excuse. 14 Oct 2008
This is the second sequel of the 'Anaconda' franchise, which isn't as bad as I was expecting it to be. After hearing it would star David Hasselhoff (an amazing thing, yes! but not really a good thing), was being made by the Sci Fi channel (eek) and it's synopsis featured the words "genetically engineered" I thought... Oh No. Fortunately, I'm one of those people who loves bad movies and the Sci Fi channel has plenty of guilty pleasures for me. However, I did want a good film. If you're like me, you'll love it and enjoy the flaws (bad acting, stupid people and the unconvincing "amazon" jungle scene at the beginning). If you love the Hoff, you'll love this.
I however, think they over complicate the story for this to really succeed and the anacondas aren't really modeled on any anaconda I've ever seen. Also, be warned, this film matches the look and feel of 'Boa vs Python'. A great, trashy film, but I wanted more for 'Anaconda'.

3.0 out of 5 stars The decline starts here... 16 Jan 2011
I love the first Anaconda and I even enjoy watching its inferior sequel. Sadly the franchise has take a turn in the made-for-tv movie direction so out goes the budget, in comes the poor script, terrible acting and atrocious special effects. That said it makes a great friday night film - that's not to be taken seriously - best enjoyed with a beer and some crisps. So if you like the franchise chances are you might enjoy this. For people looking for complex plots, great acting and mind-blowing special effects then this film really isn't what you're looking for.

3.0 out of 5 stars Extremely generic, but well made movie 13 Dec 2008
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
NOTE: I actually like this movie. I rated it four stars at first. Over time, I became less sure that doing something very well overrides how generic it is. Ultimately I thought giving it four stars just wasn't justified. But the fact I'm biased enough in favor of it to want to give it four stars says something, I think.

Anaconda 3 is a very generic monster movie. There's hundreds with similar stories, and there will be hundreds more in the future. It's not scary, and aside from a couple of minor surprises, there's nothing to look forward for in terms of story. And that's what's the "Sci-Fi Originals" generally are - average, unambitious movies with below average special effects. Any real b-movie enthusiasts will know there's a lot worse than this quality of movie.

Sci-Fi Originals often do feature stupidity on the part of the characters or bad logic on the part of the plot, but the vocal minority who try to give the impression Sci-Fi Originals excel at stupidity are really reaching, due to bias based on special effects. For example, who's ever seen a Sci-Fi Original with more stupidity and plotholes than, say, Michael Bay's "Transformers"? It doesn't happen.

The redeeming thing about Anaconda 3 is that while it's a low-budget movie, the staff are at least aware of their resources. The mutated anaconda is black, so the skin tones and such aren't as much of an issue. Also, while the effects are at significantly least higher quality than, for example, "Supergator" and "Ice Spiders", a lot of the time the crew still aren't naive enough to show them in daylight, having many of the snake attacks take place in dark rooms and such.

I should also mention the DVD features. This is the first time I've ever appreciated the DVD extras.

OMG!!!! I just wasted 2 hours of my time that i'll never get back. It is the fakest and most annoying anaconda movie. Still cannot believe David Hasselhof starred in such a classless movie. I hated every bit of it. Please guys do all you can to avoid this movie because you'll hate yourselves for ever watching it.
