4.0 out of 5 stars Good introduction 23 Nov 2013

A good introduction to the series, going into the strong characterisation of the famous Hannibal Lecter. Sometimes I have to remind myself that he is a fictional character. Any time i see Hannibal lovingly preparing food, it is implied that this is probably human meat, in fact you know it is. You watch the painstaking ritual of preparation, and turning what you'd view as an obscene evil murder, into an art form of gourmet cuisine. That scene leaves you in no doubt that he has just prepared human meat. His guests are always unaware, and no doubt believe it's beef or whatever, and think the food is an amazing treat. I recall one episode where Hannibal Lecter refers to a collection of business cards, and selects one business card, and removes a pack of meat from the freezer. Even then, that distances you from the obvious, as he lovingly prepares dinner!

I could have found this article elsewhere, I am sure, and saved myself the money. If you have watched the series, then you will find very little here that you do not already know. The only thing that makes this purchase worth the price is hearing Mads Mikkelsen's take on his character.
