Review

Great locations, hard-nosed dialogue and a twisting plot combine to create superb entertainment - Evening Standard [The Broken Shore]

This was my first encounter with the multi-prize-winning Australian writer Peter Temple, and the experience has left me hot on the trail of his earlier books - Guardian [In the Evil Day]

An Iron Rose shows just how good he is …. The laconic dialogue is terrific and the characters are brilliantly realised - Sunday Telegraph

Australian crime writing is hitting new heights, thanks in no small part to Peter Temple. Pace and plot, along with a stylishly cool approach to prose push him above the rest - Daily Mirror

Hard boiled Temple 19 Aug 2008
By William
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Peter Temple must be one of Australia's finest crime writing exports. Wonderful clipped prose, bleak landscapes and tough, guarded characters abound in this utterly gripping, action-packed novel. Even a really, really bad sex scene doesn't spoil the entertainment. It's a one sitting read: perfect for a plane journey.

A gripping story through and through 13 May 2010
By Midwest Book Review - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
An Iron Rose is the unabridged audiobook rendition of Peter Temple's suspenseful novel of country blacksmith Mac Faraday, who carries a burden from his life before he adopted a quiet profession in an out-of-the-way locale. When his best friend is found dead from a noose, Mac cannot believe it is the result of suicide. Secrets from his past bubble to the surface, and murder threatens those he considers most dear - to defend his life and the lives of those he cares about, he will have to confront the dangerous life he left behind, and every last vigilant advantage he can extract from it. A gripping story through and through, expertly brought to life by award-winning actor Marco Chiappi, and especially recommended for playing on long car or plane trips. 8 CDs, 7 hours 12 minutes, tracks every three minutes for easy bookmarking.
Peter Temple Fan:An Iron Rose 13 April 2012

Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
The two most recent Peter Temple novels were delicious and left me wanting more and more! I checked out what was available and tried "An Iron Rose".
I have to say it was not quite up to the standard I hoped for but was still a good thriller with some interesting sidelights such as forging techniques, landscape gardening, crooked people in high places and realistic sex scenes.
I shall check out further earlier titles.
