I was deterred from purchasing this book by the original advertised price but was happy to pay the much reduced price on this occasion . Good selection of illustrations and was pleased to be able to read of how First got into rail and into America. Nauseating amount of praise for Moir Lockhead (does this man need a plane when he goes overseas or does he walk on water?) but if you can turn a blind eye to that aspect it's an informative and pleasing publication.
I bought this expecting an insight into First. It was very disappointing and is more of a puff production for the Group, understandable when it has been written by somebody associated with the company I suppose. It compares very poorly with the equivalent book by Christian Woolmer on Stagecoach which appeared a few years ago and was a true warts and all production. Certainly not worth the money - access the press release archive instead!
As a First employee I was unaware of the extent the company has grown over the past twenty years. Having read the book it is clear what an amazing success story First has to tell. It was a genuinely interesting and entertaining read.
