Tom Beauchamp has produced two excellent editions, which will remain the standard editions of both Enquiries for years to come. An enormous amount of research has gone into this edition... Tom Beauchamp [has given] thirty years of devotion to the writings of Hume brought to ... a splendid conclusion, ... Beauchamp has attended to "the extreme Accuracy of Style" that Hume demanded and has produced reliable texts of the two enquires, edited to the highest standards. O. M. Brack, Eighteenth-Century Scotland

5.0 out of 5 stars More than expected 28 July 2013

A little heavy going in places but the humour kept me going throughout.

Recommended read for all those who want a poolside read with their cocktail.

5.0 out of 5 stars Trying to make sense of the reign of Henry VIII 4 July 2014
By PG
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A very interesting review of how Henry VIII came to be so much married and of the characters and families of his wives and the ongoing religious reforms. Not all of it quite hangs together but it certainly sweeps onwards through the events it narrates.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Reading 31 Dec 2013

They say that your undergraduate is about understanding how philosophers think, and not how you can contribute to the philosophy field. I feel as though this book gives you a great foundation on the basis of Empiricism, and can lead to other modern thinkers. I recommend this book to anyone who wants an enjoyable and classic read.
5.0 out of 5 stars Hume classic at no cost. Astounding! 8 Nov 2013

Hume's philosophical thought presented in Hume's incredibly clear and precise prose style. What's to enjoy more?

And the price was right.
5.0 out of 5 stars A Superb Follow-Up to Sextus Empiricus 1 Nov 2013
By Kenneth C. Hood Jr. - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I recently read Outlines of Scepticism by Sextus Empiricus in order to gain a better understanding of the origins of modern skepticism. When I read Hume it felt like I was reading a direct sequel to Sextus' classic (written around 200 AD). Hume has some harsh words about "superstition" but overall here he is more concerned with exploring "how we know things" rather than debunking any particular mythology or religion. If you want to challenge your own thought-life give Hume a try. As others have stated, this book is quite accessible.
5.0 out of 5 stars A groundbreaking series of essays 29 Mar 2013
By Michael Cunningham - Published on Amazon.com

Hume approached many areas -- morals, politics, religion, etc. -- with a unique and refreshing perspective. You will enjoy his way of thought.

Great book, wonderful classic, formatted well for the Kindle. No misspellings or punctuation errors, and highly enjoyable read. The read aloud function works great!
