Product Description

Spiritual/Metaphysical thriller:

Paul is an ordinary man, with an ordinary family and a pretty ordinary job. Why such a man should be chosen by an angel group to fulfil a quest that will help transform the world is anyone's guess.

Convinced he is going mad or sinking into schizophrenia Paul plays along with the angels who tell him he has been chosen to transcribe the words of the new Messiah, Mahdi or Light Of The World – alive on Earth today but who cannot read or write.

Paul is attacked by dark forces as his odyssey takes him from Europe to Greece, India and Nepal finally reaching the high Andes of Peru and the Monastery of the Seven Rays.

And his own life and the lives of his family are put in mortal danger.

I have never read a book like this before. It is supposed to be a thriller but it's much more than that. It's really a spiritual adventure that traces the journey of an ordinary guy called Paul when he is contacted by angels and told he has been chosen to write down the words of the new messiah - who is alive but cannot read or write. This is not the conventional idea of a messiah. It sounds more like some kind of cosmic being. The thriller element is how Paul survives spiritual and psychic attacks and travels to Greece, Nepal and India meeting more and more people who change him - a kind of initiation. This has the feel of Paolo Coelho or The Celestine Prophecy more than a hard nosed conventional thriller. But it's compelling.

This is quite a spiritual book and took some thinking about to get into it, however once I got engrossed in the characters it did actually make you think about everything and I got carried along with the story. I very much like this author and have read a few of his books and this one stands out for me really as one I really enjoyed once I got into it - quite refreshing and a nice change from the usual starts of car chases or murders and so on. Overall it is a very compelling story and does make you think.

I loved the mystical ideas in this book. They made me really stop and think. What if the new messiah, not belonging to any religion but sweeping away all outdated ideas and signalling a new epoch for mankind, was actually alive on Earth today? The action is this book is well paced with the hero, Paul, overwhelmed by some very real sounding angels and pursued by dark forces. This puts a whole new spin on angels and demons as if we were glimpsing the truth instead of the conventional portrayal of these beings. Funny how the cover still has the figure with wings. Maybe it's supposed to be ironic.
