Product Description

CD Description

'An Age Among Them' is the debut full length from London's RINOA.

In the short time since their EP release in 2008 the band have created a massive buzz and wowed crowds across the UK with their passionate, attention grabbing live show. In 2009 they released a split EP with label mates BOSSK.

'An Age Among Them' is both mellow and extremely heavy. Sublime melody and subtle guitar work give way to soaring expansive sections, crushingly heavy yet epic and extremely emotive.

Recorded and produced by Jonny Renshaw of DEVIL SOLD HIS SOUL.

4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful and crushing 23 Jun 2012

I love 90% of this album, Sol Winds and Past Maidens are two of the best songs I have heard, the first being one of my favourites ever!

however it does not get a 5 star as some of the songs go on slightly too long and I agree with other reviewers about the vocals. Whilst I like this style, it would have helped to have a slightly different tone now and again and maybe even the odd line of clean vocals.

That all said, this is well worth a listen if you like heavy, loud and beautiful music.

Fans of Devil Sold His Soul would like this, and I also agree with another reviewer about the similarities to Envy

one or two moments go on too long but overall its a 4 to 4 and a half star review.

4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome awesomeness 20 Jun 2010
Format:Audio CD
Ignoring the rant about vocal style below, this release by Rinoa is easily one (if not the) most passionate record you are likely to hear this year. Verging somewhere between post-rock, progressive metal and hardcore, it is apparent that this band has the ability to appeal to a large number of people due to their acknowledgment of several genre stylings. While I do feel that the vocal styling can be slightly repetitive (Perry seems to be stuck with a mono tonal scream through the whole album), little can be criticised about the obvious passion on display throughout the record which as one reviewer said is simply heartbreaking. The instrumentation is gorgeous throughout, the vocals probably not to everyone's taste but I think they are excellent and clearly a group of guys that are pushing some boundaries in the British music scene. Cannot wait to see what they do next. For fans of Envy (surprise!) Mahumodo and *Shels.

5.0 out of 5 stars Earth shattering! 24 Mar 2010
Format:Audio CD
Rinoa sound much like Japan's Envy which is no bad thing at all, Envy being one of the few bands I can say who reach into my inner soul...Rinoa mix what's left of scream/hardcore in vocal style with 'epic' sounding instrumental backing and the whole effect is something you would gladly watch the world burn to. If this is our English Envy then let it go on for as long and may they play live in a place near you!
