At first, 'An Account of Egypt' seemed like hard work, but, as I got into it I felt privileged to read about the Egypt seen by Herodotus, a writer from the 5th Century BC. This book provided a fascinating insight into life there and brought extra life to the photos I took on a recent visit to Egypt. I was also struck, and fascinated, by similarities I could find in his descriptions to the Hindu religion and way of life as I experienced them in South India. That was conpletely unexpected. If you are prepared to stick with it, this book is rewarding.
