I liked it because its easy to follow, and because I'm not really into reading unless it's absolutely necessary, I prefer to just get the information that's needed
A-Z format, easily understandable definitions, covering in detail various theories including Person-centred, Psychoanalytical, Transactional analysis, Cognitive and Rational Emotive counselling with brief details of the Theorists themselves
It has very good section on the various aspects of Self which include, self concept, ideal self etc. however self actualization come under heirarchy of needs by Abraham Maslow, but it is easily found under the index listing at the back of book rather than alphabetically.
Good comprehensive section on Johari Window
Good sections on Core conditions, Referrals and Multi-cultural issues amongst other things which are all covered in detail
Paraphrasing, Reflecting, Summarizing etc all covered thoroughly with examples.
Covers briefly particular aspects or situations where counselling may take place for e.g. Grief and Bereavement counselling, Sex therapy and Family Therapy
All in all a good book and I think worth the expensive cover price. A great companion for any student of Counselling !
