A well written and very informative book charting the life of Amy Winehouse.
She showed her talent from an early age, what a voice, musician and song writer too.
Amy showed the world the talents she had with her 2 albums, Frank and Back to Black, which received much acclaim.
She was compared to the likes of Billie Holliday and Sara Vaughan also Ella Fitzgerald.
It was such a shame that someone with her talents hit the self destruct button and went down the path of drugs and booze.
Her relationship with Blake Fielder- Civil, was her downfall in my opinion, it seems it was thru him she was introduced to the world of hard, really addictive drugs which got a hold on her.
We will never know what more she could of achieved in the music scene to top the worldwide acclaim and the 5 Grammies she had all ready received.
What a tragic, tragic waste of life of someone so talented, she could have gone on to be a really big singing sensation!
At least she left a legacy of her 2 much acclaimed albums and millions of fans of her music worldwide.
She must be remembered for her talent not the stories of her mixed up personal life that seemed to make the news worldwide on a regular basis.

I loved this book. It's insightful, easy to read and has some nice photos (which of course are the first thing anyone looks at when purchasing a book, or is that just me?)

A must for any Amy fans. Especially the positivity and sense that she's going to be ok.

This is an easy-to-read biog of one of the real pop legends of our time. Winehouse has clearly been through an awful lot in her young life, something which is captured sensitively and honestly by the author, rather than deriding her, as is the media's usual way of dealing with Amy 'news'. A must read for any Amy Winehouse fan.

This book is a lazy review of Amy Winehouse articles from British and American magazines and radio shows. Any Google sarch for Amy Winehouse gig or album review would come up with this book. And for space filler, there are lists. Paragraphs dedicated to 'who else won' an award, 'who else' played a particular book, etc.
Most importantly, this book gives you no insight into Amy's world.
Overall, this was a dull read, uninformative and lazy.

This is a very well paced, insightful and above-all fair look at a talented but tortured singer.

Despite the fact that dying young dramatically increases your fame this biography proves that Amy was a genuine star long before her demise. Reading this biography gave me the confidence to believe the hype surrounding her talent is actually deserved and not because she achieved 'legend status' by merely dying young.

Some may argue the portrayal of Amy is written with rose tinted spectacles! But for me it just gave me the side of the story the mainstream media tended to avoid.

My only suggestion is that another chapter be written which explains the circumstances surrounding her death and the singer's legacy. I wouldn't like to see the entire book re written as I enjoyed reading what people thought of her before her death.

All in all this is a great book at a great price and is highly recommended.

Excellent, particular references to Amy's people who influenced her musical style and lyrics. Expert interpretaion of the lyrics and musical contexts.
Only bad thing was it did not include the prelude to her death. such a sad,sad waste of an unbelievable talent. I found listening to the tracks helped realise the lyrical and musical content - thanks to the book.
