Product Description

Amy Winehouse s recent death has made the news the world over, and despite her much publicised battle with drink and drugs her passing has left the music world in a true state of shock. At just 27 years of age she sadly joins a list of greats who have died before their time, including Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain and Jim Morrison. As fans gathered outside her Camden house to pay tribute to the singer her iconic music soared back to the top of the charts not only in the UK but in the USA and around the world. Never far from the headlines, stories about her tumultuous personal life, wild parties and controversial drug abuse regularly featured in the press. But 2011 was supposed to be her comeback year and she looked to be on her way when appeared alongside her God daughter Dionne Bromfield at The Roundhouse. An award-winning singer, Amy Winehouse, had won a host of accolades including two prestigious Ivor Novellos, and an outstanding 5 Grammys in 2008. Blending different music styles including jazz, pop and soul Amy had an army of fans committed to her unique approach to life. With original interviews and revealing anecdotes this remarkably well-researched biography traces the turbulent life of the tattooed wonder from her childhood pranks, through stage school and her early music to the global legend she will be always remembered as.

Legend 8 Aug 2011
Format:Paperback
It was the original biography of Amy that got me into her music and I began following her life and then of course it was terrible to see how it all went wrong and those last performances, hard times and tragic end. I got the updated version (the one with a dark cover and 1983 - 2001 on it) and cried over the new chapters as I was already emotional. It is the same book as the original but with new chapters and photos. Odd even reading it reminded me of when I read the first book and getting into her music. What a beautiful soul, RIP Amy xxxxxxx

A great tribute 15 Oct 2011
By Lucy B
Format:Paperback
I loved this book. It's insightful, easy to read and has some lovely photos (which of course are the first thing anyone looks at when purchasing a book, or is that just me?)

When I read the original version I was left with a feeling of positivity, and that's what makes this edition so much sadder. I was a big fan of Amy and her music and I'd say this is a must read if you feel the same way.

What a great book, you feel like you are with her all along her journey.

She was an amazing girl with so much talent, she had so much love to give but things just went so wrong.

I would recommend this book to learn about Amy and her many highs and lows

Thank you Chas xxx

A must read for Amy Winehouse fans.
I enjoyed the descriptions of Amy Winehouse's music and her concerts. A very balanced book, about somebody who at times became better known for the controversies than her music. Read more
