5.0 out of 5 stars amtrak wars, 3 April 2003
Having only read the first in the series 'cloud warrior' i can say with out a doubt that it was one of the most compelling reads i've had, the imagination involved and detail about a post apocoliptic world is shear genius, Iam currently searching for the next in the series but to no avail, in short i would recommend this to anyone old or young I couldnt put it down and neither will you.

5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant post-nuclear war scenario, 18 Sep 2001
By A Customer
Picture how the world would look some thousand years after the Apocolypse. Patrick Tilley paints a very plausible picture. It follows the career of a young man raised deep underground in the long aftermath of a nuclear war that devastated the planet. He is sent out on his first mission after graduating from a kind of military academy in post war America. The mission is a total catastrophe and he is captured by "Mutes" the underground name for the descendants of those not fortunate enough to have gotten underground in the immediate aftermath of the war. However, he finds that they are not the imbecilic savages he had been told and on top of that they have powers that had been hinted about in the caverns but suppressed by the powers that be. I have read only the first book in this series but am avid to carry on with the story. I read the first book in under twenty four hours, it was that good.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a thrilling book, 11 Dec 2000
By A Customer
I found this book excellent. It has a well built up story line, the characters are well thought out.It also has great detail in the scenes not like a lot of this books the author spends good time building them up so you can almost see it .Although a lot of people will disagree with me I think this goes up there with all time classics such as THE LORD OF THE RINGS by J.J.R Tolkein.
