The Amplicom PowerTel 500 Cordless Telephone has the ability to amplify a telephone call up to a total of 35dB and is hearing aid compatible. The Amplicom Powertel 500 has a ringer which can increase to 90dB. With large buttons and a very clear LCD the Amplicom Powertel 500 is very simple and easy to use. Even if a user has dexterity problems the large keys reduce the problem of mistakes when pressing buttons.

I can now have a normal telephone conversation with my mother which has not been possible for the last 6 months. The dual settings is also a great bonus as she lives with my brother and his wife who can use the phone normally. I was also able to link it to his original base station so we did not have to disturb the set up in his house at all. The large buttons and clear display are also a great bonus.

This phone has boosted the confidence my mother now has to make and receive calls as she can hear clearly what is being said. We had become aware that she was not calling us as much as she used to and she finally admitted she could not hear her old phone. This phone earpiece is definatly a lot louder than a normal phone and the ringer volume is loud and clear. The boost button for the earpiece is really loud, too loud for normal hearing.The big buttons and the bright clear screen helps even me.
I live quite a bit away from my mother so the phone is an important link and this phone had definatly improved communication for all of the family. The hands free facility means I can speak to her and my sisters at the same time if they are visiting so that is really nice. My mother also sits in the garden calling her friends as the surounding noises do not affect her hearing the call.
I would recommend this phone.

Second time lucky
This phone was a replacement for the first one which was faulty, however this one appears to work OK, so far no problems with it.

Alot of good features , but sound poor
